Edson Signs With DuBois

Penn State DuBois Women's Basketball is proud to announce that Valerie Edson from Round Rock, Texas will continue her basketball career at the DuBois Campus of Penn State.  The 5'2" shooting guard played basketball for the Round Rock Home School high school team and as a senior Round Rock took first place in their state division and earned a second-place finish in the Homeschool National Tournament against teams from throughout the country. While at the Texas State Homeschool Tournament, Val took second place in the Three-Point shooting contest as a junior and returned the next year as she captured first place in the Three-Point shooting contest as a senior.  She also finished her high school career shooting 92% from the foul line.

Penn State DuBois Head Coach Pat Lewis stated, "Val reached out to us to inquire about getting a Penn State Engineering degree while also playing basketball.  After watching her videos and a great deal of correspondence as well as a virtual campus tour, we both decide that she would be a good fit in Penn State DuBois' Engineering and basketball programs."  He added, "Val is a proven shooter that will stretch the court for us.  We look forward to working with her and adding her skills to our team."  Included in the photo (L-R) Front:  Tully Edson (Father), Valerie, and Sean Rutledge (Coach and Trainer).  Back Row:  Yaeko Edson (Mother).
