DuBois Sweeps New Ken

DuBois Sweeps New Ken

Penn State DuBois opened their conference play against visiting PSU New Kensington this afternoon.  With returning USCAA National Player of the Year Lizzy Scott getting the start from the mound, DuBois looked to take full command of the game.  DuBois gave Scott the run support right from the start, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.

DuBois would make quick work of their opponent in game 1 of the doubleheader as they forced a run rule to end the game in 5 innings.  Jordan Bundy would smash a triple to help out her team, while Skylar Ceprish and Larissa James-LaBranche would each add a double.

Scott would throw for the complete game, 2 hit shutout, and strikeout 8 batters.

Game 2 of the double header saw Scott start again, and the bats start the same way for DuBois.  With at least 1 run scored in every inning, DuBois would pick up where they left off from game 1.  Scott would go another 5 innings and have 8 strikeouts, but this time would give up a few walks that would lead to some runs.

DuBois would still end the game early however, as they would take the game, 12-4.  Paige Pleta and Abby Pentz would both hit for triples, and Ceprish and Pleta would drive in 2 and 3 runs, respectively.  Scott would also have 3 hits in the game.
