Softball Signs Stuart
Penn State DuBois is excited to announce the signing of Warren Area High School Senior softball player, Kelsey Stuart

Kelsey is a left-handed pitcher that Penn State DuBois Head Coach, Jason Kern, has been recruiting since the beginning of last summer. "Kelsey popped up on our radar after her sophomore year. Unfortunately, she lost her junior year of high school ball but I was able to watch her play over the summer and into the fall in some travel ball tournaments. The first was at Carnegie Mellon University and I could tell right away she had good mechanics and was very good with her ball placement", Kern said.

So far during her senior season, Kelsey is 7-1 as a starting pitcher with 68 strikeouts and has only given up 14 earned runs. She is equally impressive at the plate, batting .462 with an on-base percentage of .563 with 4 doubles and a home run.

Another fact not lost on Kern is her high school coach. "Kelsey's high school coach is her mother, Carissa. I have found that players who have had a parent as a coach in high school or older travel ball, tend to be well coached and are willing to be coached a little easier because they understand the coach point of view having lived it with a parent."
