Another Split With Hazleton

Another Split With Hazleton

Penn State DuBois travelled to Hazleton for another PSUAC double header yesterday.  Their first meeting was a split decision, and today would end in the same way.

Lizzy Scott would start in the circle for DuBois in game one.  Hazleton would get on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the first, but DuBois would bounce back.  A sacrifice fly from Aspen Bishop in the third would score Maddie LeGrys, and a fielding error in the fourth by Hazleton would score Malliah Schreck

Hazelton wouldn't be silenced though as they would come back in the bottom of the fifth with 3 runs, and add another in the 6th.  They would go on to take game one, 5-2.

Scott would pitch a complete game with 7 strikeouts in the loss.  DuBois would end the game with only 3 hits.

Game two was a different story for Coach Kern's team as they came out with bats blazing.  DuBois would score first this game with another error from Hazleton that would send Bishop across the plate.  Schreck would then send a single to the outfield to bring in Skylar Ceprish to give DuBois the lead after one inning, 2-0.

The 2nd inning DuBois kept it going after a 2 out single from LeGrys.  Brooke Harvey would double to send LeGrys home before Cierra O'Shell would double to send Harvey home.  Bishop would come up and get another RBI on the day with a single that would score O'Shell.  Skylar Ceprish would come up next and hit a monster shot over the wall for her 3rd home run of the year to score 2 more runs.  DuBois would go into the third inning with a 7-0 lead.

Harvey would keep Hazleton at bay from the mound as she would pitch a complete game for DuBois giving up only 3 hits, 1 run, and striking out 4.

Coach Kern's team would add 3 more insurance runs in the final 2 two innings as they would go on to win game two, 10-1.  DuBois would have 12 hits this game including 3 each from Schreck and Bishop.

DuBois heads home today to host Hazelton in another double header fight for first place in the PSUAC East Division.
