Softball Recogizes Bundy

Softball Recogizes Bundy
During the Fall Season, the softball program will recognize a Softball Player of the Week which highlights a student/athlete's hard work on and off the field.

Our next recipient is Sophomore Second Baseman, Jordan Bundy. Jordan arrived to campus last Fall as a Freshman and was slated to compete at third base. During a Fall Tournament at Beaver, and in her first Fall Ball game, Jordan probably had every Freshman's worst nightmare, the first 3 of 5 hitters hit direct hard shots to third base. She was charged with a couple errors and that would shake any Freshman player. In hopes of restoring some of her confidence, Associate Head Coach Lauresa Gulvas suggested to move her to second base. Head Coach Jason Kern agreed and the switch was made. Most of her abbreviated Freshmen year, (due to COVID), was learning a new position. Coach Kern has been impressed with how fast Jordan is adjusting. "What happened in her first action in college is any players worst case scenario, committing a couple errors. When the decision was made to switch Jordan to second base, we knew there was going to be a learning curve. We already knew Jordan was a good fielder, she played third base in high school. However, the college game is a little faster and it takes time to get comfortable. Jordan has excelled at second base. She has embraced the change in position and she has been constantly impressing the coaching staff with her fielding. I believe she has been able to slow the game down and just react and play when the ball is hit."

During the recent Combine Testing, Jordan was in the top 5 of many categories, something Coach Kern was excited about. "Jordan had the second fastest time in the 40-yard dash, something that surprised me", Kern said. "You can tell that she has been working hard and I'm proud at how far she has come since that day in Beaver".
