DuBois Crowned 2023 PSUAC Champions

DuBois played as the top seed in the 2023 PSUAC Championship game today as they took on PSU York at Medlar Field in State College, PA.  DuBois came up short last year in the championship game and looked to make that a distant memory in this year's championship tournament.  Connor Cherry would get the nod from Coach Calliari for the start from the mound.  Cherry would keep the bats from York reasonbly quiet as he would give up only 4 hits throughout his 5 and 2/3rds innings pitched.  DuBois would give Cherry some help from the plate as they would get a quick 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning off of a Cory Lehman fielder's choice that would score Colby BodtorfBrett Beith would then advance off an error from York before Tyler Yough would single to score Lehman to put DuBois in control early.

In the 2nd inning Beith would continue his scoring as he smashed a 2-run home run to give DUBois the 5-0 lead.  Cherry would give up 1 run to York in the 6th inning before Ezeck Olinger would come in to finish the inning with 2 pitches and get the unassisted out at 1st base.  McLain Welshans would come in relief in the top of the 7th inning to get the first 2 outs, and Jeff Romano would come in for the final out as DuBos would clinch the 2023 PSUAC Championship title.  This is DuBois' 4th PSUAC title in the last 5 played seasons.

Bodtorf would go 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, Beith would hit 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's.  Brandon Sicheri would hit for a triple, and Yough, Lehman, and Grant Lillard would each add an RBI.

DuBois will be the #9 seed in the USCAA Small College World Series as they will face D'Youville College from Buffalo, NY on Monday at Showers Field.
