A Huge Home Win for Baseball

Penn State DuBois baseball hosted Clarion University last night for a cold night under the lights.  Morgan Bell got the start for DuBois, and would keep the Golden Eagles scoreless for the first 3 innings.  DuBois, however would not stay scoreless long.  In the 2nd inning the first runs would come across the plate for the Nittany Lions as Thayne Morgan would single in Trevor Hanna, and Colby Bodtorf would score Brandon Sicheri to take the 2-0 lead.

The flood gates opened for DuBois in the 3rd inning as they brought 7 runs in to take a 9-0 lead and give Bell a little breathing room on the mound.  The Eagles would bring 2 runs across in the 4th, but the Nittany Lions would add another 4 runs in the 5th and the 8th inning, and would hold on for the 17-4 commanding win.

Bell would throw 4 innings, strikeout 3 batters, and allow 4 hits.  A strong showing for reliever Broc Weigle as he would go 3 innings with no hits, and strikeout 3 batters as well.

Hanna would go 2 for 4 from the plate with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored, and Bodtorf would hit for 3 RBI's.

The Nittany Lions start PSUAC playoffs this Saturday.  As the #1 seed in the west division they will host the first round of the conference playoffs tournament, and will play the winner of the PSU Mont Alto vs PSU Fayette game at 3:00pm at Showers Field.
