Headed Back to the USCAA World Series Championship Game

DuBois took on the #1 seed University of Cincinnati Clermont in the USCAA World Series this afternoon for a spot in the National Championship game tomorrow.  DuBois, the #2 seed would be the away team on the scoreboard.  The pitching/catching combination today featured 2 USCAA World Series MVP's in Joey Dipietro(2018) catching, and Toner Corl(2019) pitching.

The first inning stayed silent with both pitchers doing work for their clubs.  UC Clermont came in with the first run of the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning, but DuBois would come right back in the top of the 3rd with their own run to tie the game with a single from Corl that brought Brandon Sicheri in to score.

DuBois would take the lead in the top of the 4th with a home run from Daniel Stauffer.  That was Stauffer's second home run in as many games.

Clermont would come back quick with another run in the bottom of the bottom of the 4th.  A pitching battle went back and forth for the next few innings between 3 different pitchers from Clermont, and Corl.  The top of the 7th inning found Sicheri on base again, and with 2 outs Logan Wagner came up as a pinch hitter.  Brett Beith would pinch run for Sicheri, and as Wagner would smash a base hit to right field Beith would come around to score and take the lead, 3-2.

Stauffer would come in to close out the game from the mound in the top of the 7th.  The first 2 batters would go down on strike outs, and 3rd would pop up to Stauffer to end the game as Stuaffer would get another save in as many games as well.

DuBois will move on to the USCAA World Series Championship game tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 pm.

Corl would give up only 5 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 4 batters.  Corl would also go 1 for 3 from the plate, and add an RBI.  Sicheri went 2 for 3 with a big 7th inning hit, and Stauffer went 1 for 3 with his RBI off of his home run.
