DuBois Deals 2 Shutouts

The Penn State DuBois Baseball team hosted New Kensington last night at Showers Field for a conference double header.  Coach Calliari went with sophomore, Jake Allen to start on the mound for game one.  Allen gave DuBois a strong start as he allowed only 2 baserunners through 4 innings.  Allen would hit one batter, and another would single, but quickly thrown out by catcher, Daniel Stauffer.

DuBois bats started scoring in the bottom of the 2nd, as they put up 3 runs after a Brandon Sicheri walk and a stolen base.  Josh Sorbera would get the RBI off of an error to score Sicheri.  Brett Beith and Toner Corl would both single to bring 2 more runs across the plate before the inning would end.

Another run would be added in the 4th from a stolen base and a wild pitch as Thayne Morgan pinch ran for Stauffer after his double.

Braden Blair would come in for an inning of relief in the 5th inning, allowing 0 runs, 0 hits, and striking out 1.  Blaise Roush and Brandon Sicheri would come in for 1 inning each after Blair, and give up only 2 hits, allowing no runs to keep the shut out on the game.

DuBois would score a few more insurance runs in the 5th before Beith got up in the 6th and crushed his first collegiate home run.

DuBois would take game one, 7-0.  Morgan would have 3 stolen bases for the game as he moves into 2nd place in the conference for stolen bases.  Beith, Corl, and Stauffer would all go 2 for 3 on the game.

Nolan Walters would get the nod to start the night game of the double header, and go through 3 innings of work with 4 strikeouts.

Sophomore 3rd baseman, Tyler Yough would get the scoring started in the 2nd inning as he drove in pinch runner for Luke Salvo, Brandon Sicheri for the first run of the inning.  Beith would then double to score 2 more, Trevor Hanna would single for another RBI, and Cory Lehman would fly out to center to bring in the 5th run of the inning.

DuBois would score 3 more runs in the 6th inning after Corl would hit a 3 run shot to score Frankie Stefko and Morgan.

DuBois pitching staff would get some work in as Samuel Cheng, Morgan bell, Brandon Orsich, and Beith would all come in for 1 inning of work.  The staff would keep New Kensington scoreless in game two as well.

Morgan would go 3 for 4 with a triple and a double, and Hanna would go 2 for 2 on the game.  Hanna and Corl are now tied with each other for most RBI's in the conference.

DuBois will be travelling to Greater Allegheny on Saturday for a double header, and return home on Sunday for the same series against Greater Allegheny starting at 1:00pm.  DuBois is now 14-2 overall, and 11-2 in the conference as they remain tied for first place in the PSUAC West Division.
