Penn State DuBois places 4 wrestlers at Thunderwolves Open

The Penn State DuBois wrestlers continue to improve as the season heads to the end of the first semester.   12 wrestlers made the trip to Niagara County CC for the Thunderwolves Open, featuring a quality field of NCAA Div. II and JUCO wrestlers.  Assistant Coach David Hoare had the wrestlers prepared and battling well in this tournament.

Leading the way for the PSUD wrestlers were heavyweights Tim Suydan placing 4th and Andrew Bigley 5th.  Suydan recorded 4 wins on the day against 2 loses, while Bigley was 3-2 to capture 5th place.  Sophomore 149lber JP Hayles was also 5th place going 3-2 and Freshman Matt Humes wrestling at 157lbs was 6th place.  Humes advanced to the semi-finals before losing to Michael Griffith of Mercyhurst University; Humes lost two other close matches to finish 6th.

Overall the coaching staff was pleased with the performance of the team and the tenacity they displayed in many of the matches.  Also competing at Niagara CCC were 133lbers Brian Fries 0-2 record, Brett Himes 2-2, 157lbs Jake Himes was 1-2, 165lbs Ty Haines was 2-2, 174lbs Joe Knarr was 2-2, Matt Rivera 0-2, 184lbs Dennis Lumadou was 1-2, 197lbs  Nate Rodgers was 0-2.

The PSUD wrestlers will be back in action on Wednesday (Dec. 10th) when they travel to PSU Beaver for a tri-match against Beaver and Greater Allegheny at 6:30 and 8pm.
