Schuylkill Outpaces DuBois in Tough Home Matchup

DUBOIS, Pa. – Despite a strong start and standout individual performances, the Penn State DuBois Lady Lions fell to Penn State Schuylkill 58-46 on Saturday afternoon at the PAW Center.

The Lady Lions opened the game with energy, outscoring Schuylkill 12-7 in the first quarter behind steady defense and a key three-pointer from senior Shannon Shaw. However, Schuylkill adjusted in the second quarter, capitalizing on DuBois turnovers to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.

Sophomore forward Natalie Bowser anchored the DuBois effort, recording a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds. Shaw added 11 points, including three three-pointers, while junior guard Frances Milliron chipped in eight points and led the team with six free throws.

The third quarter saw both teams trading baskets, with freshman forward Elizabeth Hungiville making key defensive stops, including three blocks, and adding five points. Despite the Lady Lions' best efforts, Schuylkill surged in the fourth, shooting 63.6% from the field and pulling away late.

Turnovers proved costly for DuBois, as Schuylkill scored 17 points off giveaways. The Lady Lions struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 19.2%, while Schuylkill's balanced scoring attack, led by Ava Novak with 19 points and Tajae Stevenson with 17, made the difference.

The Lady Lions will look to bounce back in their next contest when they host Kent St.-Tuscarawas on January 6th
