PSUD Women Knock Off PSU Beaver

In a game that saw as many as ten lead changes, the Penn State DuBois Lady Lions put together a strong fourth quarter to give Penn State Beaver (3-1) their first PSUAC conference loss of the season by the score of 70-61.  PSUD improves to (2-1) in the conference and (6-2) overall with the win.

Late in the first quarter, Gracie Hamilton (Northern Potter) came off the bench and hit for 5 quick points to tie the game up at 12-12 to end the first.  The two teams exchanged leads throughout the second and third quarters with DuBois holding a 45-44 lead heading into the final frame.

PSUD used back to back "3's" by Kristen Williams (Eisenhower) and Cierra O'Shell (Glendale) combined with solid free throw shooting in the fourth quarter (13-16) to secure the win.  The final quarter saw four players step to the line and convert pressure free throws with Morgan Silvis (Forest Area) going 5-6, Melody Young (Otto Eldred) 2-2, Williams 3-4, and O'Shell 3-4.

"Everyone on the team played a huge roll in this win tonight," state head coach Pat Lewis.  "Beaver is well coached and is always one of the top teams in the conference. To beat them tonight was a great win for the program.  We handled their pressure well because it was an extremely physical game but our young ladies didn't back down."

The Penn State DuBois Lady Lions return to action with a home game on Friday, December 8, 2017 against PSU Greater Allegheny.  Game time is 6:00.
