DuBois Lady Lions Improve to 3-1

The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team improved their record to (3-1) with a 80-47 win over Butler County Community College on Monday night.  The PSUD squad has now won three games in a row heading into the holiday break.

The Lady Lions used a strong defensive effort while they built a 38-15 halftime lead.  DuBois had four players reach double figures with freshman Cierra O'Shell (Glendale) scoring a team high 13 points with Grace Earle (Cowanesque Valley) 11 points, Kashius Harris (Beaver Falls) and Melody Young (Otto Eldred) 10 points each.

"This was by far and away our best defensive effort of the season so far.  Butler has a very athletic forward that was leading the nation at 35 ppg and 24 rpg.  We held her well below her average tonight.  Our girls did a great job of playing team defense in making them work for every point tonight," stated PSUD head coach Pat Lewis.  He added, "Every girl on the team played a pivotal role in this win.  We beat a good team tonight."

Kristen Williams (Eisenhower) finished with 8 points and 5 assists.  Gracie Hamilton (Northern Potter), Lauren Young (Bellefonte), Morgan Silvis (Forest Area), and Hope Bridge (Punxsutawney) all chipped in 6 points each and Laura Fatula (DuBois HS) added 4 points in the win.

The Lady Lions return to action at home to meet Penn Highlands CC, Wednesday, November 29, 2017.  Game time is 6:00.
