Kristy Hanes receives John S. Egli Scholar Athlete Award

Kristy has played basketball 3.5 years, Golf 3 years, and softball 1 season at PSU DuBois. She is a respectful, hardworking young lady in the classroom and in the sports venue. She is a true team player; putting other people's success in front of her own. I personally will miss seeing her everyday next year.

Academic:

Kristy graduated in May with a 3.92 GPA in Business Management/Marketing. This young lady took one of her business proposals that she had to do for a class assignment and presented it to the bank to secure a loan to start up her own business. She has started her own business (Kristy's Krystal Klean Kars) prior to graduation with building construction currently underway. You can view Kristy's business on Facebook at "Kristy's Krystal Klean Kars", you will be impressed.

Campus:

Kristy is a "Lion Ambassador" and Orientation Leader for PSUD. She is currently doing her Marketing Internship for Penn State DuBois Office of Student Engagement.

Kristy finishes her basketball career as the 4th leading scorer in PSUD history (778 pts), 4th in career steals (89), 1st in career 3 pointers (169), and 4th in career assists (127)

She is a member a member of PSUD Women's Basketball team, Golf team, and Softball team.

Two years ago Kristy spent her spring break working with Habitat for Humanity rebuilding homes affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Prior to going New Orleans she worked with Habitat for Humanity on rebuilding projects in the DuBois area.

Last year during spring break, she traveled to Arizona to do volunteer work on a Navajo ranch working with the Amizade project at Tube City, AZ.

Kristy spent her 2017 spring break working in Appalachian area in Williamson, WV. The group from campus worked with the people and youth in an area where most people have lost their jobs in the coal mining industry.
