PSU DuBois Falls To Penn State Fayette

The PSU DuBois Lady Lions dropped a 69-59 decision to conference rival Penn State Fayette on Tuesday. Both teams came out hot in the first ten minutes and matched each other basket for basket, as they fought to a 15-15 tie at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter proved the same and PSUD held a slim one point lead going into half-time, 30-29. In the first half alone, there were eleven lead changes.

Poor shooting in the third quarter by PSUD allowed Fayette to build a 14-point lead 52-38, ending the third quarter. The DuBois squad made a strong run at the end of the game hitting four consecutive threes, two each by Ashley Brown and Kristy Hanes, to pull within six but were unable to close the entire gap.

"The last several games we have played very well for 30 minutes in each game. Unfortunately, we need to play well for 40 minutes each game." stated PSUD coach Pat Lewis. "The young ladies are working hard and are looking forward to each and every game. We just need to remain focused the entire 40 minutes."

PSUD was lead in scoring by Hope Bridge (Punxsutawney) with 17 points and 8 rebounds while and Ashley Brown (Otto Eldred) and Grace Earle (Cowanesque) both hit double figures with 10 points each. Melody Young (Otto Eldred) and Kashius Harris (Beaver Falls) each hauled in 7 rebounds.

PSUD returns to action on Friday and Saturday as they host Penn State Wilkes Barre on Friday at 6:00 and Penn State Scranton on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
