PSU DuBois Lady Lions hold off late surge by Wilkes-Barre

PSU DuBois Tops PSU Wilkes-Barre

Penn State DuBois Women's basketball jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead and had to survive a last minute run by PSU Wilkes Barre to secure a 68-64 conference victory on Saturday.

Kiley Lewis (Cameron County) led PSUD with a double-double 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Karly Carnovale (Elk County) continued her hot shooting streak with 18 points and was joined in double figures by Patience McCullough (Purchase Line) with 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Linsey Mizic (Pottsgrove) 9 points, sealed the win with two clutch free throws with four seconds remaining in the contest.

Karlee Cyphert (North Clarion) finished the game with 10 assists and 7 points.  Jordan Fairman (DuBois HS) and Nikki Hurler (Cowanesque Valley) combined for 8 points and 7 rebounds to round out the scoring.

For Wilkes-Barre, Tiaira Brathwaite hauled in a game high 22 rebounds and Katie Beach led three players in double figures with 19 points, with 17 of those points coming in the second half.

PSU DuBois travel to conference rival PSU Beaver on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. tip off.  Friday night, Jan. 18th is a "White Out" game, the first 350 fans in attendance will receive free PSU DuBois Athletics t-shirt.  Women's game is at 6; men at 8pm.
