The Penn State DuBois softball team travelled to Waynesburg University this weekend for a double header. The first game saw returning USCAA National Player of the Year, Lizzy Scott with the start from the circle.
Although Scott would throw for 5 strikeouts, and allow only 6 hits, DuBois would struggle to find the plate themselves. The lone run for DuBois would come from Skylar Ceprish's single that would score Brianna Bone. DuBois would lose game, 4-1.
Game 2 would bring in Maura Fledderman for the start for DuBois. Waynesburg would jump on the ball quick to get an early lead scoring 4 runs in the first. DuBois would start to get some run support in the 4th and 5th innings as they would score 2 runs in each, but it wouldn't be enough to outlast Waynesburg. DuBois would drop the 2nd game, 15-4.
Abby Pentz would go 2 for 3 in the game, scoring 1 run. Bone would come in for relief work for 1 and 1/3rd inning, striking out 3 batters and giving up only 1 hit.
DuBois will play St Vincent College Monday at home. Those game times are set for 4pm and 6pm.
