Strong Defense But DuBois Falls Short

Strong Defense But DuBois Falls Short

The Penn State DuBois men's basketball team hosted PSU Beaver this evening.  DuBois, who just came off of a conference road victory was looking to keep their momentum rolling through tonight.

A quick start offensively for DuBois, only 3 of the 10 players did not score before halftime.  With DuBois looking to attack the two-three zone, their passing was effective and efficient.  With limited turnovers, DuBois was distributing the ball unselfishly, and creating shots.  Unfortunately, those shots were not falling on this night.

On the defensive end, DuBois brought the energy, and was all over Beaver the entire game.  Cole Morris (Rimersburg, PA) had 3 steals, and with traps and deflections coming from every player on the DuBois team.

Amareay Walters (La Plate, MD) was everywhere on the court.  Walters active hands led to several Beaver turnovers, and DuBois, although down 38-25 at the half, would never give up all night.  Beaver hit a few key three point shots late in the game however to keep them on top.  DuBois would keep pouring on the energy, and cause the turnovers late in the game, but it wasn't quite enough to come out on top.

Beaver would win the game, 74-66 in a fantastic effort by both squads.  Mekhi Willis (Landstuhl, Germany) would end the night with 19 points, Russell Gariepy (Albion, PA) would finish with12, and Walters would end the game with 17 points, and 6 rebounds.

DuBois will travel to PSU Mont Alto on Friday night.  Live stats will be available by going to the schedule page on the PSU DuBois Athletics website.
