The Penn State DuBois Golf team has done it again. They have won the PSUAC Championship for the second year in a row with an outstanding tournament appearance.
After a bit of a slow start on the first day of competition, DuBois still only trailed the PSUAC field by 4 strokes. Colin Moore (Homer City, PA) led the way for DuBois with a +8 performance of an 80. This was enough to put them in 3rd place after the opening round of play, and 12th overall in the USCAA National Tournament.
Entering day 2 of the tournament Coach Powell was feeling good about the play from his team, and rightfully so. Each player knew that 4 strokes was a small margin to overcome, and overcome they did. With freshman, Ian Helsel (Indiana, PA) finding his rhythm early on he was able to help his team make up that difference in a big way. Helsel came in with a 74 on the day to total a 154 for the tournament. Brandon Orsich (Clearfield, PA) did not disappoint either as he was able to stay consistent, and end the day with an 81.
When the tallies were finally in as the sun was going down DuBois had their 2nd PSUAC Championship in as many years, defeating the field by 1 stroke.
DuBois came in 9th overall in the USCAA Championship Tournament.
