Sparks Fly Again for DuBois Runners

Dunmore, PA:

This past weekend, two of our Penn State DuBois runners traveled to the Electric City of Scranton and competed in the Penn State Worthington-Scranton Invitational.  Once again, they did nothing short of impress.  While Nolan Fairman continues to remain on the sideline as he recovers from health complications, that didn't stop him from supporting teammates Rebecca Maine and Jeremy Fischer, in claiming glory once again for Penn State DuBois.

Fischer, who has only been in the program for a week and a half, took 6th overall for the men; while Maine nabbed another medal by taking 2nd overall for the women.  This would be Fischer's first 8k race, and he recorded a 34:34, while Maine fell short of a first place finish by a mere 9 seconds.  Both Fischer and Maine are on track to be top contenders for the conference.

After the race, the athletes were treated to a special visit to Scranton's Electric Trolley Museum where they had the opportunity to see their newest exhibit donated by late-night show host, John Oliver from Last Week Tonight.  The exhibit is the result of an ongoing joke between the late-night personality and the Scranton community regarding a recent segment on their show.

The Penn State DuBois runners will travel to Media, PA to compete in the Brandywine Invitational on Saturday.  This will be the last conference race before the PSUAC championships.
