It's a great day for hockey!...And running.

Two of the Lady Lion Runners from Penn State DuBois competed at the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6k in Pittsburgh.  This unique 4.1 mile race pays homage to the Pittsburgh Penguins great Mario Lemieux, and helps raise money for the two charities, the Mario Lemieux Foundation and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.  This 4.1 mile trek takes runners through the streets of Pittsburgh and finishes at the Consol Energy Center where participants have the privilege of watching the Penguins practice.

Representing Penn State DuBois in the race were runners Juliann Boddorf and Carley Boice.  Boddorf who was a stand out performance last year, impressed once more with a 3rd place finish.  Boice, who is a rising star for the Lady Lions scored a 26th place finish out of the 56 women in Boddorf and Boice's age group.

When asked about the race, Boice commented, "I feel very ready for the championships." 

The Penn State DuBois runners have been hard at work with Coach Gordon as they prepare for their conference championships on October 17th at University Park and the national championships on November 6th in Florida. For their conference championship, the women will be running a 6k which is the longest race offered to the athletes in the conference during the season.
