Hard Fought First Match Not Enough

Hard Fought First Match Not Enough

Penn State DuBois Volleyball just finished their first ever match in the USCAA National Tournament.  Early nerves were definitely a factor in the first set, as the ladies made some service errors to start the match.  Their opponent, 2nd seeded Johnson and Wales University out of Charlotte, took full advantage of this as they went on a run to open the lead wide open quickly.  With DuBois only having 6 kills in the first set, Johnson and Wales would go on to win that one, 25-10.

DuBois calmed down for the 2nd set however, and starting playing like the Lady Lions we saw through the season.  With Allison Easton (Coudersport, PA) racking up the kill totals, DuBois made it quite the set, but couldn't quite hold on as they fell 25-21.

The 3rd set was a mirror image of the 2nd, as DuBois fought valiantly to get a set win.  With scrappy play, and a few nice kills they were able to continue to give themselves a chance.  However, Johnson and Wales would go on to win the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0.

DuBois will continue pool play tomorrow morning at 11:30 am as they take on #3 seeded Christendom College.
