DuBois Downs Mont Alto for Fourth Straight Win.....

The Penn State DuBois volleyball team is gaining momentum as the season goes, and they have no plans of stopping.  After yesterday afternoon's victory over Mont Alto in 3 sets, DuBois has put together a winning streak of 4 in a row.

DuBois started out a little slow as Mont Alto showed up to play.  The first set saw 3 service aces by the visiting team, but DuBois defense brought them back into the game as Alyssa Simbeck (St Marys, PA) and Gracie Hamilton (Ulysses, PA) would keep digging for DuBois at all cost.  Keara Shrefler (Kersey, PA) would also add 7 kills in the first set to put Mont Alto away, 25-20 in the first.

Mont Alto would start strong again in the second with another service ace from Katelyn Muse, who had 3 aces on the day.  But again strong defensive play and 7 more kills added from Allison Easton would be enough to shut down Mont Alto again in the second, 25-16.

The third, and final set was all DuBois as they brought the heat from all directions.  Simbeck put the assists to work, distributing the ball to Shrefler, Easton, and freshman Skylar Ceprish (Allport, PA) to put Mont Alto back on their bus with a 25-14 final set score.

Simbeck would finish the day with 22 assists and 11 digs.  Shrefler and Easton finished with 15 and 17 kills respectively, while Ceprish had the highest dig total for DuBois with 14.

Mont Alto was led by Courtney Stump with 9 kills, Katelyn Muse with 14 assists, and Melanie Tracey with 19 digs.

Easton and Shrefler are dominating the stat line in the PSUAC, staying in the top 5 in kills, kills per set, and taking the top 2 spots in hitting percentage.

DuBois is currently sitting in 2nd place in the PSUAC West behind PSU Fayette.
