The Spring semester got off to a shaky start as the PSUD wrestlers traveled north to take on Alfred State, winning by the team score of 28-27.  DuBois fell behind 12-0 with a forfeit loss at 125lbs and an Alfred State fall at 133.  Brett Himes was in a scoreless battle with Ryan Thierman when he was pinned in the 2nd period. DuBois battled back taking the next 4 bouts to gain a 19-12 lead, scoring bonus points in all four matches.  141 Garrett Brown recorded a dominating 18-3 Techinal Fall, followed by major decisions at 149 Devin Joiner won 10-1 and 157lber Jake Himes recorded an 8-0 victory. Ty Haines recorded a Fall at 165 to set the stage for the last 5 matches of the evening.

At 174 John Prentice held an early lead, but was caught in a cradle and pinned early in the 2nd period. Alfred State recorded another fall at 184lbs to retake the lead 24-19, but DuBois bounced back with a fall from Dennis Lumadue at 197 and an 8-3 decision by Nate Rodgers at 235lbs.  The final match of the night was a 2-0 decision for Alfred State to set the final score at 28-27 in favor of DuBois.

PSUD Head Coach Dave Hoare was a bit disappointed with the outcome of 2 or 3 matches; "Our better wrestlers have to take control of their matches and not get caught out of position to where they give up big points or are pinned.  We will continue to work as we have two big weekend competitions coming up in January.  Chalk it up to the first competition in over a month and we will move on".

PSUD wrestlers will travel to Newport News VA this Sunday to compete in the Builders Invitationa hosted by the Apprentice School.
