Penn State DuBois wrestlers set for NCWA Championships

While the rest of the students on campus enjoy their Spring Beak the PSU DuBois wrestlers prepare to travel to Allen, TX for the NCWA National Championships.  86 teams from across the country will arrive in Allen, just north of Dallas for 3 days of intense competition.  Each weight class may have of to 42 competitors, all vying for All-American honors (top 8th finish).

Coaches David Hoare and Joe Shields will be taking 12 student/athletes to the event who qualified through the Mid-East Regional in Baltimore Maryland February 28th.   The following wrestlers will be representing PSUD in Texas:  Brett Himes (125), JP Hayles (141), Jake Himes (149), Ty Haines (157), Matt Humes (157), Joe Knarr (165), John Prentice (174), Logan Shirey (184), Dennis Lumadue (184), Tim Suydan (235), Andrew Bigley (285), and Carl Rodgers (285).

Wrestling will begin on Thursday at 10 AM, live action can be followed at  www.ncwa.net . Brackets and team competition will be updated on this site.  First round competition for the PSU DuBois wrestlers is as follows.

We wish the wrestlers good luck in their competition.  In the past five seasons, three PSUD wrestlers have earned NCWA All-American honors  (Kasey Haines, Chike Okolo, and Cliff Hill).
