Penn State DuBois Wrestlers capture NCWA Mid-East Title

The PSU DuBois wrestlers continue to roll over the competition under the leadership of Coach David Hoare and assistant Joe Shields.  15 members of the wrestling team competed in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) Mid-East national qualifier host by Univ. of Maryland-Baltimore County, winning the team title with 143 points over 17 teams.

Four PSU DuBois wrestlers advanced finals, Ty Haines (157) came away with a championship winning by decision 11-4 over Manny Dominquez of Montclair State Univ.   Placing 2nd were Brett Himes (125), JP Hayles (141), and Andrew Bigley (285).

Other place winners were:  Jake Himes (149) 7th place, Matt Humes (157) 5th place, Joe Knarr (165) 5th place, John Prentice (174) 3rd, Logan Shirey (184) 3rd, Dennis Lumadue (184) 4th, Nate Rodgers (197) 7th, Tim Suydan 6th, Carl Rodgers (285) 4th.

A total of 12 wrestlers qualified for the NCWA National Championships in Allen, TX March 12-14; the top 6th place winners in each weight class advance + wild card selection Jake Himes.  Other awards going to PSU DuBois were the "Pinner Award" Joe Knarr with 3 pins in 7:00 accumulated time.  Also, Coach David Hoare was voted outstanding coach by his peers.
