PSUD Wrestlers win 3 of 4 matches at Fayette Duals

Following up an impressive come from behind win on Thursday night, the PSUD wrestlers took to the road for 4 dual meets at PSU Fayette.  Wrestling without a few team members did not stop the PSUD squad from recording 3 wins and 1 loss on the day.

Leading the way for PSUD was 149lber Jake Himes (Ridgway) with 3 falls and 1 forfeit, Jake has been very dominate since dropping from 157 last week.  Also, recording 3 wins on the day were Ty Haines, Nate Rodgers, Tim Suydan, and Andrew Bigley.  New addition to the team Jay Prentice was 2-0 while sharing duties at 184 with Dennis "Bub" Lumadue.

The morning started with a loss to PSU Main's club team 27-18; winning key matches were Joe Knarr (174) registering a 9-7 come from behind win in OT. Jake Himes and Andrew Bigley had falls in their matches.

The second round pitted PSUD against Univ. of Akron - securing the final team points at 285lbs was Andrew Bigley (Clarion Area) with a hard fought 6-0 win.  PSUD trailed 30-28 going into Bigley's bout.  Brett Himes won his match by major decision 15-3 before his brother Jake pick up another fall in 2:26 of 1st period.

The last two matches were a bit more lopsided, but had several tough individual matches.  PSUD defeated Fayette 42-12; Jake Himes onced againg registered a fall against a very good opponent Ethan Kenny. Jake was trailing 4-2 at the time of the fall in the 2nd period. Tim Suydan (235) also had a fall against his Fayette opponent.

The final match of the day was a 32-9 win against PSU New Kensington.  Ty Haines (157) won by techincal fall and J. Prentice won by fall over Dylan McAnallan after building a 9-1 lead.

PSUD wrestlers will be back on the mats Thursday as they travel to Waynesburg University for a very tough test against NCAA Div.III team.    The final home match of the year is February 14th at 3pm against USCAA rival Apprentice School.
