Haines and Hill survive Friday morning session at NCWA Championships

PSU DuBois had two wrestlers win in the morning colsolation bracket; Kasey Haines won by Tech Fall 16-0 over Mike Shimer (SUNY) and will face Jonathan Dempsey (Lafayette) tonight.  At 197lbs Cliff Hill won by fall 1:24 over Michael Mahoney (TX-Austin) and will wrestle Greg Humphrey (East Carolina U.) this evening. 

Losing in the morning session were: 125 Landon Clayton lost by dec. 6-4 to Sean Kellett (UMBC), 157 Shane Alterio lost by dec. 13-6 to Eric Alber (Air Force Academy Prep), 165 Jake Himes lost by dec. 9-7 to Frankie McKeown (Alabama), 174lbs Ryan Terwilliger lost by dec. 7-1 to Steve Alfi (Central Washington) , Chris Minarchick lost by maj. dec. 10-2 to Rasheid Rayford (Middle Tennessee State).

Haines and Hill will need to win 2 or 3 more matches to earn All-American honors.  PSU DuBois is in 15th place with 18 team points.  Leading the championships is Cal-Baptist with 43 pts, McKendree 42.5, Central Florida and Grand Valley State each have 40.5.

The quarter-finals and consolation brackets will continue tonight at 6pm CST.
