Turnovers Too Much

Turnovers Too Much

The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team faced off against another PSUAC opponent tonight as they hosted PSU Beaver.  Coming off of a big road win against Lehigh Valley, DuBois was looking to use that momentum to help carry them through this game against the top ranked, and only unbeaten team in conference play.

DuBois started off with a balanced scoring attack, but the turnovers put DuBois down by the end of the 1st quarter by a score of 30-19.  Still getting quality looks, and a crisp passing game, DuBois kept grinding and chipping away.

The 2nd quarter put a spark in Malliah Schreck (Emlenton, PA) for DuBois.  Schreck would score 11 points on 5-5 shooting from the field.  DuBois would hold solid through the quarter, and go into the locker room at the half with only an 11-point deficit.

Another bout with turnovers in the 3rd quarter gave DuBois a tall task to come back from, but DuBois energy and hustle never came into question as they would keep fighting clear until the end.  In the 4th quarter DuBois would calm their press break a little more, and out hustle Beaver in every aspect of the game.  Schreck again would have a big quarter scoring another 11, and added in a key block, and 3 rebounds.  Unfortunately, the deficit was too much for DuBois to come back from.  Although they won the 4th quarter, Beaver would hold on to win the game, 96-82.

Schreck would end the night shooting a very efficient 11-14 from the field for her 26 points, and also added in 8 rebounds.  Lexey Shick (Rimersburg, PA) put up 12 points and dished out 7 assists.

DuBois will go on the road Friday night to play PSU Mont Alto in their last PSUAC game of the semester.  Live stats will be available by going to the schedule page of the PSU DuBois Athletics website.
