Women Suffer First Loss

DuBois travelled to Villa Maria College Friday night to try to keep their winning streak alive after starting the season 3-0.  After a slow first quarter start, DuBois was down 25-8, but they knew the game wasn't over yet.  Melody Young (Eldred, PA) took control of the first half of play with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Those numbers included a perfect 5 for 5 from the charity stripe.

Unfortunately for DuBois, Villa Maria wasn't ready to be done either as their defense kept punishing DuBois.  Villa Maria's Chmicka Kennedy ended the first half with 8 steals, and the team went to the locker room with 16 total as they made sure they kept pressure on the visiting Lady Lions.

After last season's loss to DuBois, Villa Maria was going to make sure they didn't let up until the game was over.  DuBois wouldn't stop either however, as they came out in the second half with their own determination.  With Young and Hope Bridges (Punxsutawney, PA) still on the attack offensively, DuBois pulled down rebound after rebound, but the shots just weren't falling DuBois way.

Sophomore Lauren Young (Bellefonte, PA) was held to only 7 points on the night off of 1 for 9 shooting from the field.  Young had her best game of the season with 22 points and 15 rebounds.  DuBois shot only 30 percent from the field though as Villa Maria would go on to win the game 103-69.

DuBois will be back in action after the Thanksgiving break to host PSU Beaver on November 27th.
