Melody Young Earns USCAA All-American Award

Penn State DuBois' women's basketball player Melody Young (Otto Eldred HS) has been named to the USCAA All-American team as an Honorable Mention selection.  Young, PSUD's leading scorer (11.8 ppg) and rebounder (9.9 rpg), is the first PSUD women's basketball player to receive national recognition by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

Melody had double figure scoring games 16 times as well as double figure rebounding games 12 times during the 2017-18 season.  This included 8 games that she recorded a double-double.  Mel also tied the school record this season for most rebounds in a game with 19 rebounds against Penn State Hazleton.

Penn State DuBois coach Pat Lewis had this to say about her accomplishment, "Melody is a pleasure to coach and works hard every second that she is on the court.  PSUD led the Penn State Athletic Conference as well as the USCAA in rebounding with 54.7 rpg, and Mel was a huge part of that.  I am happy that she was recognized at the national level because she deserves to get accolades for her hard work on the floor."  Young will enter her senior season next year, fourth on the all-time PSUD scoring list (803 points) and third on the all-time rebounding list (644 rebounds).
