The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team secured a playoff spot in the upcoming PSUAC Championships with a 79-60 win over Penn State Greater Allegany on Tuesday evening. DuBois improved their conference record to 7-6 and 14-8 overall.

Kashius Harris (Beaver Falls) led five players in double figures with a career high 18 points. Close behind, also registering double figures were Kristen Williams (Eisenhower) with 17 points, and Melody Young (Otto Eldred) 12 points. Both Kaelyn Gruver (Redbank Valley) 11 points and 13 rebounds and Grace Earle (Cowanesque Valley) 11 points and 10 rebounds claimed double-doubles.

Ashley Brown (Otto Eldred) led the team with 5 assists and Kristy Hanes (Elk County) knocked down 2 three pointers. Juli Vokes (Brockway), playing in limited action, hauled in 5 rebounds.

"We were very happy with the effort and energy that the girls played with tonight," stated PSUD Coach Pat Lewis. "We were down one player and have a couple of girls fighting through injuries but they all knew a playoff spot would be clinched with a win tonight and they turned it up a notch."

DuBois trailed 15-14 at the end of the first quarter but turned on the defense in the second quarter, holding GA to a total of six points in the second frame while scoring twenty-two points during the same quarter. The fourteen-point PSUD halftime lead would increase to a twenty-three-point lead in the third quarter to all but seal the victory. PSUD hauled in a season high 65 rebounds while shooting 15-17 (88.3%) from the foul line.

PSUD returns to action at 2:00 on Saturday as they travel to Penn State Fayette for their final regular season game.
