PSUD Women Earn Road Win

The Penn State DuBois Women's Basketball team picked up their second road victory in a row as they beat Westmoreland CCC (7-6) by the score of 70-53 Thursday night. PSUD improves to (4-7) on the season with the win.

DuBois held a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter 18-16.  But they got some breathing room, thanks to a strong defensive effort, by holding WCCC to just two points in the second quarter and building a 30-18 halftime lead.  PSUD went on to control the second half by outscoring WCCC 40-35 to pick up the win.

"We started playing well as a team right before the semester break and have picked right up where we left off in December.  Westmoreland is a really good team so it makes this win even more impressive," stated Coach Pat Lewis.  "The young ladies are working hard at practice and that's paying off right now."

Ashley Brown (Otto Eldred) 18 points and 10 rebounds and Grace Earle (Cowanesque Valley) 11 points and 10 rebounds both posted double-doubles.  Also in double figures were Melody Young (Otto Eldred) 14 points and Latascia Shadle (Galeton) 12 points.  Kaelyn Gruver (Redbank Valley) hauled in 7 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.

PSUD return to action on Tuesday, January 12th, at home against conference rival Penn State Greater Allegany.  Tipoff is at 6:00.
