Comeback Win for the DuBois Lady Lions

The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team (3-7), responded after PSU Mont Alto jumped out to a 12 point lead in the first three minutes of the game, and used a strong second half with balanced scoring on Saturday to pick up a hard fought road win by defeating conference member Penn State Mont Alto (4-7) by the score of 65-57.

Trailing 36-31 at halftime, the DuBois Lady Lions came out of the locker with an aggressive defense and hot shooting to pull off the hard fought victory.  Three different players hit for double figures in the game to secure the win.

Kristy Hanes (Elk County) came out with a hot hand as she scored all of her 14 points in the first half.  Joining her in double figures were both Ashley Brown (Otto Eldred HS) and Melody Young (Otto Eldred HS) with 12 points a piece.  Kaelyn Gruver (Redbank Valley) 8 points, Ashley Reitz (Punxsutawney) 4 assists and Young each hauled in 8 rebounds a piece.

"The girls are playing as a team right now and they have all accepted the roles that best suit their abilities." commented DuBois head coach, Pat Lewis.  " We would like to qualify for the PSUAC playoffs again this year and we are headed in the right direction."

The Lady Lions return to action January 7th as they travel to Westmoreland County Community College for a non-league contest with a tip-off at 5:00 pm.
