DuBois Lady Lions Pick Up First Win

(11/20/14)

The Penn State DuBois Women's Basketball team (1-3) traveled to the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville and captured a 73-25 win on Wednesday night.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a 30-14 halftime lead and never let the lead drop below 16 points in the second half to secure the win.  "I felt that the girls really stepped it up defensively tonight and we controlled the tempo of the game by limiting our turnovers."  "The girls worked together and played as a team tonight", stated DuBois coach Pat Lewis.  He added, "Pitt-Titusville had two key players missing tonight due to injury and we anticipate a different game when we face them in February."

The Lady Lions were lead in double figures by Mary Pillot (Bald Eagle Area) 19 points, Juli Vokes (Brockway) 16 points, and Grace Earle (Cowanesque Valley) 12 points.  Ashley Brown (Otto Eldred) hauled in 14 rebounds to go along with 9 points and 8 assists.  Kristy Hanes (Elk County Catholic) had 8 points, Linsey Mizic (Pottsgrove) 4 points, Koren McCullough (Purchase Line) 3 points and Ashley Reitz (Punxsutawney) 2 points rounded out the scoring.

The Lady Lions return to action as they travel to Penn State Greater Allegany, Saturday, November 22, 2014.  Game time is 1:00.
