Penn State Women's Basketball players earn Academic All-American awards

The basketball season ended without a trip to the PSUAC playoffs in 2014, but two members of the PSUD Lady Lion basketball team have been recognized by the USCAA for their outstanding work in the classroom.  Sophomores Jordan Fairman (DuBois Area HS) and Kiley Lewis (Cameron County HS) were named to the USCAA Academic All-American team for the 2014 season.  To earn this national recognition the players must be at least of a sophomore class standing, nominated by their coach, and have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Jordan and Kiley have both been starters in the majority of the games while at Penn State DuBois, they also work part-time jobs, practice daily and excel in the classroom.  Coach Pat Lewis, Kiley's father emphasizes the priority of school work first, basketball second.  As a matter of fact Jordan was left home from an away game because Coach Lewis recognized she would be missing a night class in succession early in the semester and didn't want to have her fall behind the class.  Coach Lewis commented "That these two young ladies see the importance of an education and work hard to be successful in all aspects of their lives.  I am fortunate to have an entire team of players who know the importance of a Penn State education and come to campus to play because they love basketball".

We tip our hats to Jordan and Kiley for their hard work and leadership.  Jordan will complete her degree at the Penn State University Park campus in 2016, while Kiley will complete her education degree at Millersville University in 2016.  Best of luck and thank you for making us Penn State Proud!
