Penn State DuBois selects Jason Kern to head softball program

Campus Athletic Director Ken Nellis commented on the hire " We are pleased to hire a softball coach with the experience and passion for the sport at Penn State DuBois in Jason Kern. Jason comes in at a critical time where we are developing the program in the 2nd year and DuBois has been selected to host the USCAA Softball Championships in May at the newly renovated DuBois City Park facility.  Jason has the desire to recruit young ladies to campus and build a team that will represent the PSUD campus with quality student/athletes and leaders on and off the field.  I am excited for the current players on campus and the future ladies that will join us in next fall."

Coach Kern comes to Penn State DuBois from McGuffey School District in Washington County Pennsylvania where he was the Head Softball Coach. In each season as Head Coach at McGuffey High School, he led the team to the District playoffs and won the 2016 Section Championship. Coach Kern has coached baseball and softball for over 15 years.

He also served as the Assistant Football Coach at McGuffey. Coach Kern attended California University of Pennsylvania and holds degrees in Sport Management and Criminal Justice. He is the owner of a Sports Broadcasting Company and is married to his wife Ashley and has two daughters, Trinity and Eva.
