Big Defense for DuBois

Big Defense for DuBois

Coming back from a few weeks off, the Penn State DuBois men's basketball team wanted to get out and run last night as they hosted the Wolfpack from Westmoreland County Community College.  Coach Howard knew it was important to gain some confidence for his players before they started back into conference play next week after they started 0-6 in the PSUAC.

Junior Zack Dahlstrand (Erie, PA) started off with a bang early for his DuBois team as he nailed a pair of 3's early in the game.  The press for DuBois paid off big time for Coach Howard as he had his team playing an exciting hurry up defense.  DuBois forced the Wolfpack to turn the ball over13 times in the first half, and started wearing out the opposing teams short bench.

Dylan Huey (Punxsutawney, PA) kept his national leading field goal percentage climbing with only one missed field goal in the first half.  Huey and Dahlstrand took their team to the locker room with a 46-29 lead.

The second half saw the same outcome, and got some valuable minutes for the DuBois reserves as the Lions went up big on the Wolfpack.  Tyler Davis (Franklin, PA), in only his second game of the season lit up the 3- point line, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc.  Mekhi Willis (Landstuhl, Germany) kept things right on the defensive end for DuBois with 4 steals, adding 5 assists as well.

Dahlstrand ended the night with a team high 23 points, while pulling down 7 rebounds.  Huey finished with another efficient game as he went 7-8 from the field for a solid 14 points.  Davis capped his night off with a season high 20 points.
