Fayette's Run Too Much

Fayette's Run Too Much

The Penn State DuBois men's basketball team travelled to Penn State Fayette tonight for their fourth conference game of the season.  With some new transactions taking place in the line-up, Coach Howard hoped to find some rhythm in his team.  Junior starting point guard, Cole Morris (Rimersburg, PA) would be sitting out after an ankle injury suffered in last week's game against Schuylkill.  Malik Gordon (Allentown, PA) is in his second game back after sitting out the previous three games with an injury, and new addition to the team, Josh Terry (Curwensville, PA) would be making his first debut for Coach Howard's team.

Fayette scored first to start the game, as DuBois had trouble finding that rhythm that they needed.  With 10 turnovers in the first 8 minutes of play, DuBois was struggling to find the bucket.  Fayette would start with a 26-5 run before DuBois finally started attacking back.

Zack Dahlstrand (Erie, PA) would find his way to the tin a few times, and give his team a little breath of fresh air with his 10 first half points.  DuBois would keep the game evened up after the initial run by Fayette, but couldn't make up the difference in the first half.  Fayette hit 8 three point shots in the first half, and forced 20 turnovers from DuBois, but Coach Howard had an entire second half to work with.

Coming out of the locker room, Brandon Bernhardt (Milton, NJ) and Dylan Huey (Punxsutawney, PA) would give DuBois a good start with their made field goals, but Fayette would answer with their own.  Turnovers again plagued DuBois as they had in the first half, but they too were playing better defense.  Fayette would start to lose ground after an 8-0 run by DuBois, capitalized by a 3-point field goal from Josh Terry.  The clock was not in favor of DuBois though, as time would wind down too quickly on the DuBois rally.  DuBois would win the second half scoring effort by a margin of 5, but the early run for Fayette was too much for DuBois to make up this night as they fell, 85-66.

Gordon led all DuBois scorers with 15, while Dahlstrand added 12 of his own.  Osagie Evbuomwan (Severn, MD) led the way with 9 rebounds.  DuBois ended the night with 31 turnovers, but outrebounded Fayette, 33-23.

DuBois will host Penn State New Kensington at home on Friday, December 7th at 7:00 pm.
