The 2018-19 season opened with a convincing road win for Penn State DuBois as they handled Westmoreland County Community College 99-53. PSUD got off to a quick start scoring the games first 7 points behind a quick 5 from Pitt-Bradford transfer Zack Dahlstrand (Erie,Pa). Back to back layups by Dylan Huey (Punxsutawney,Pa) pushed the lead to 11-2 just four minutes into the contest. At the 13:03 mark PSUD would continue the stingy defense and transition offense keeping the score lopsided at 21-4. Lead by Dahlstrands 17 first half points on 6-9 shooting and 6 rebounds, Brandon Bernhardt (Milford,Nj) added 13 points on 5-6 shooting, and Huey's 10 points on 5-6 shooting PSUD headed into half time up 57-20.
 
In the second half PSUD continued its defensive dominance, transitioning into offense and easy looks in transition as 9 different players saw the ball go in the basket. As a team PSUD shot 53.9% from the floor, dished outs 17 assists and outrebounded WMCCC 47 to 33. On the defensive end PSUD forced 33 turnovers and tabbed 19 steals.
 
Zack Dahlstrand lead all scorers with 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Dylan Huey contributed 22 points, and Brandon Bernhardt added 15 points. Mekhi Willis (Landstuhl,Germany) rounded out the double digits scorers coming off the bench with 10 points.
 
PSUD will be back in action with the home opener Monday, November 12th @ 8pm against Butler County Community College.
