Big Win for Playoff Push

After losing their first conference game at home for the season on Thursday, Penn State DuBois would not be denied a 63-59 conference win over Penn State New Kensington Saturday. The win keeps PSUD in the 6th and final playoff spot in the PSUAC with three conference games remaining. PSUD would overcome another poor shooting performance going 31.9% from the floor and 11.8 % from 3 (2-17) to get back in the win column. The home team would focus in on the defense end to make a ran and take a 23-13 lead 11 minutes into play. The defensive effort continued as they would only give up 25 points in the first half. The defense continued in the second half while the offense continued to struggle, New Ken could not get the game to one possession under a minute and PSUD would walk away with a much needed conference win. For the game, Senior Tristan Pierce (Lancaster,OH) would lead PSUD with 18 points (9-10 FT) followed by Freshman DJ Hopkins (Huntingtown,MD) 16 points and 7 rebounds. Dylan Huey (Punxsutawney,PA) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds in only 16 minutes of play as he was injured just before halftime and did not come back into the game.

PSUD sits in the 6th spot in the PSUAC with 3 games to go, Tuesday at PSU Greater Allegheny, Saturday at PSU Fayette, and Sunday home against PSU Lehigh Valley. http://www.psuacsports.com/sports/mbkb/2017-18/standings
