PSU DuBois Tops #7 USCAA Ranked PSU Brandywine 88-82 At Home

Penn State DuBois finished the final 11:08 of the game on a 34-11 run to erase a 17 point deficit to defeat previously unbeaten in PSUAC play PSU Brandywine 88-82. Ranked 7th nationally in the latest USCAA coaches poll, Brandywine controlled the first half leading by as many as 7, PSUD was able to close the half time score close at 42-40 in favor of Brandywine. The road team used hot shooting from the 3 point line (5-10) and also outscored PSUD 9-0 at the free throw line to control the first half.

At the 14:05 mark in the second half, Brandywine up 59-54, they again caught fire from the floor as 4 straight 3 point shots connected pushing the lead to 71-54 with 12:03 on the clock. After a PSUD timeout, the defensive energy was maxed out as PSUD would only give up 11 points to Brandywine in the final 12 minutes. Senior Tristan Pierce (Lancaster,OH), Sophomore Dylan Huey (Punxsutawney,PA), and Freshman DJ Hopkins (Huntingtown,MD) all combined to score the final 34 points for PSUD.

Dj Hopkins was named Foradora Insurance Player of the Game with 20 points on 7-9 from the floor, 6-9 from the foul line, and added 13 rebounds. Tristan Pierce scored a game high 33 points on 14-20 shooting and Dylan Huey contributed 18 points on 7-9 shooting and 4-4 from the foul line.

PSUD would outrebound the larger opponent 31-29, 10 of which were offensive rebounds. PSUD improves to 7-7 overall and 4-2 in the PSUAC.

The next game is tomorrow night 1-16-18 as the lions will welcome in PSU Fayette (7-5,4-1) at 8 pm.
