PSUD Men Win on Road at Butler County CC

On Wednesday night, the PSUD Men's basketball team traveled to Butler County Community College to play their second consecutive [nonconference] opponent on the road. The Nittany Lions were up against significant athleticism and size that made up the Pioneers of BCCC. Dubois found themselves down within the opening minutes as they scrambled to find the bottom of the net as well as a prominent defensive stance. Dane Aucker (Dubois) got the lion's rolling as he was knocking down several three pointers. The lions fought back as both teams were trading baskets for nearly the entire first half. With mere seconds remaining in the half the ball found itself in the hands of Jesse Reynolds (Ridgway), knocking down a deep shot from beyond the arc as time expired. PSUD Men found themselves up two going in to halftime.

The second half proved to be more advantageous for the lions as Tristan Pierce found himself comfortably in a rhythm scoring 20 of his 29 points. As the half progressed, Dubois found themselves in foul trouble amongst their players. It was then that they started to play a 1-3-1 defense which proved detrimental for the Pioneers. The defense forced several turnovers in which the Nittany Lions were able to convert off of. After a couple charge calls and a strong defensive presence, the Pioneers found themselves panicked. Dubois held the lead for the latter of the second half. For the Nittany Lions it came down to free throw shooting in the final minutes. They were able to hold off the Pioneers clinching their second nonconference road win. Notable players were: Tristan Pierce 29, Dane Aucker 18, Sam Roselli 16, Logan Pearce 14, & Dylan Huey 10.

The PSUD Men open up at home on Monday, November 14th against Westmoreland County Community College. Tip is set for 8:00.
