PSUD Wins Season Opener on the Road

The PSUD men's basketball team started the 2016-17 campaign on a positive Saturday winning at Pitt-Titusville 88-77. PSUD started just one senior, one junior, and three freshman but the inexperienced roster quickly became seasoned as Pitt-Titusville pressed for 40 minutes. Around the 10 minute mark in the first half, PSUD grew the lead to double digits with help off the bench from Dane Aucker (DuBois,Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) shooting. Dane was 4-4 from behind the 3 point arc, also a 3 from Jesse Reynolds (Ridgway,Pa./Ridgway) and Tristan Pierce (Lancaster,Oh./Lancaster) helped PSUD go into half time up 51-41. Senior Sam Roselli (Ridgway,Pa./Ridgway) also had an efficient first half going 5-7 from the field for 10 points at the break.

PSUD continued to handle the pressure early in the second half, pushing the lead to as many as 23 with 14 minutes to go in the contest. Pitt-Titusville would find the same hot shooting of their own mixed with PSUD turnovers cutting the lead to 8 with under 10 minutes to play. PSUD would answer, pushing the lead over double digits where the lead would stay until the final buzzer. Pierce led PSUD with 20 points, followed by Roselli with 17 on 8-13 shooting. Reynolds and Aucker both chipped in with 15. Freshman combo of Donovan Boyd (Jackson,Mi./Northwest) and Logan Pearce (Centr Hall,Pa./Penns Valley) each added 8 in their first collegiate game.

PSUD will take on Butler County Community College Wednesday the 9th at 7 pm in Butler, Pa.
