PSUD Men Win Big Again At Home

For the second straight PSUAC home game, the Penn State DuBois men's basketball team up ended their opponent by double digits. On Wednesday night, PSUD upended Penn State Beaver 87-72 in front of a loud home crowd. The game was a "white out" that invited all fans to wear white in support of the home team, that they did as the student section gave PSUD energy throughout. With only 7:11 left in the first half, the game was knotted at 29, during this time the biggest lead was 4 by PSUD. Dakota Shadle's (Galeton, Pa) jump shot at the 6:30 mark sparked an end of the half run for PSUD. A made jump shot by Dane Aucker (DuBois,Pa) would cap a 20-7 run up to 1:06 left in the first half. Both teams would sink free throws before the first half buzzer, showing a score of 52-40 advantage PSUD.

PSU Beaver would use the half time to regroup, early in the second half they would cut the PSUD lead to 8. However, this was as close as PSU Beaver would get. PSUD would continue its relentless full court pressure and a stellar second 20 minutes from the only two seniors on the roster. Louie Conde (Ewing,NJ) would pour in 20  of his career high 38 points (13-22 from the floor, 4-4 from the 3 point arc, and 8-9 free throws) in the second half and Kyle Mills (Bushkill,Pa) added 9 points in the second half on 3-4 from behind the arc.

Conde also added 15 rebounds and 5 assists, Mills finished with 12 points, Aucker finished with a career high 14 points, and Shadle chipped in a total of 11 points. As a team, PSUD finished with a season high 13 steals and 21 offensive rebounds.

"The atmosphere tonight was fun, it was great to see that many students attend. The campus did a great job of promoting the WhiteOut," said head coach Dylan Howard. "Tonight was the first time all year we put together 40 minutes of the physical and mental parts of the game. I thought every guy was prepared and executed very well, especially Dakota. We needed that type of effort while our leading scorer Sam is out with injury," stated Howard.

"We have a huge away conference trip this weekend, both teams  we play are in the 5 team log jam in conference standings. There is only 1 game separating these 5 teams, after this weekend someone is going to separate themselves from the jam. Hopefully it's us," said Howard.

As coach Howard stated, PSUD will return to action this weekend on the road. 3pm Saturday at Penn State Schuykill and 4pm Sunday at Penn State Scranton. These two games are the start of a 5 game road stretch that is crucial for PSUD in the PSUAC playoff picture.

Note – With the win over PSU Beaver, Penn State DuBois is now only a .5 game back in the PSUAC Playoffs. The top 6 of the 13 team conference make the playoffs.
