PSUD Men Fast Start propels team to win 98-73

PSUD Improves to 3-1 with Win over Butler County CC

The return home for the Penn State DuBois men's basketball team proved to be welcoming as the Nittany Lions were victorious 98-73 over the Butler County CC Pioneers. PSUD got off to a fast start with 2 three pointers from Tristan Pierce (Lancaster, OH) and a made layup from Sam Roselli (Ridgway,PA) pushing the early lead to 8-2 at the 18:29 mark. The Pioneers responded with back to back threes of their own bringing them back to a 1 score game. The game remand close until the 10:38 mark when the pressure defense of the Nittany Lions and a spark off the bench from Jordan Knappenberger (Lehighton,PA) pushed the lead 27-17 in favor of the home team. PSUD closed the half on a 14-5 run, leading to a half time score of 50-31.

In the second half, PSUD kept up the defensive pressure and sharing the ball. The lead grew to as many as 30 points at the 14:17 mark.(71-41) Again, PSUD proved to have a balance attack as 6 different players (Sam Roselli, Kyle Mills, Tristan Pierce, Louie Conde, Alex Graf, and Adam Szklanka) all scored in the first 6 minutes of the half. PSUD had 23 assists compared to the Pioneers 12, shot 53% from the field compared to the Pioneers 37.5%, and the PSUD bench outscored the Pioneers 32-17 for the game. Sam Roselli lead all scorers with 26. Tristan Pierce, Jordan Knappenberger, and Kyle Mills (Bushkill,PA) added 16,11, and 10 respectively.

"Tonight we played with aggressiveness and energy for 40 minutes, something the coaching staff has been stressing. I was happy to see the guys respond after our tough road loss at Bethany (WV)" said head coach Dylan Howard. "We had a total team effort tonight. I thought all 11 guys were ready, and when there number was called they responded."

PSUD will play their next game on Saturday November 21st at Division III Washington & Jefferson. The tip-off is schedule for 5 pm.
