Thrilling OT win over PSU Schuylkill 90-87

PSUD Wins in OT

The Penn State Dubois men's basketball team came away with a thrilling overtime win Saturday at home against Penn State Schuylkill 90-87. PSUD looked sluggish in the beginning falling behind 7-2 shortly into the game, after a timeout and a defensive stop PSUD got on the board again by a Sam Roselli (Ridgway, PA/Ridgway) layup. PSUD stayed behind for the next 6 minutes until two made free throws gave PSUD its first lead of the game 15-13. PSU Schuylkill would regain the lead and go on a run of their own, at one point leading 27-19. Two made baskets by Sam Roselli helped PSUD chip away at the lead, but still remained down at the half 34-39.

At the half, PSUD seemed to regroup and make the adjustments necessary to take control of the game, PSUD quickly gained the lead early in the second half. PSUD used stellar shooting (31-57 from the field and 19-20 from the free throw line) and sharing the basketball (20 assists for the game) to push the lead in the second half to as many as 13. However PSUD could not hold onto that lead as turnovers late let PSU Schuylkill back in the game. The last 2 minutes of the half saw 4 ties, including 80-80 at the end of regulation.

PSUD used overtime to outscore PSU Schuykill 10-7, Sam Roselli scored 5 in the extra period to help PSUD secure the win. Roselli was 13-14 from the field and 5-5 from the charity stripe to lead PSUD with 31 points. Louis Conde (Ewing, NJ/ Ewing) helped with 14 points, 6 assists and 8 rebounds. (8-8 from the free throw line)

Coach Dylan Howard's game comments, "today we struggled defensively, we didn't come out with energy, I thought as a team we were flat. But the guys battled the entire game, any conference win is a good win. Louis having 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 14 points, and 8-8 from the free throw line was key. What else could you ask for from a PG."

PSUD returns to action Wednesday when they host conference rival PSU Beaver at 8pm following the women's game.  Senior recognition for the men will be honoring Derrick "Nooch" Williams playing in his last home game for PSUD.
