DuBois drops tough matchup at home

01/27/2015

With the visiting Fayette squad coming to town, the Dubois lions knew they would be in for one of the better match ups they've faced all season. The Fayette squad (11-0 PSUAC, #2 USCAA) were without a few of their players making their bench limited. Dubois knew they had to play their best game thus far. After winning the tip, Fayette started the game with a quick basket; though Dubois was able to answer with their own. The first 12 minutes of the game was incredibly fast paced, shots were falling like rain on a warm summer night for both teams.  It was at that point that shots stopped falling for Dubois. Careless turnovers and a lack of rebounding proved doomful as Fayette took advantage while finishing the half on a 20-6 run. Dubois went into the half down 21.  During the half, Dubois made the necessary adjustments and came out ready to fight back. "We knew we weren't going to get all 21 points back in the first five minutes, but we were going to gradually decrease the score margin" says Coach Howard. Fayette however, was not ready to let that happen. Their defense picked up and their shots were continuing to drop. Dubois attempted to use their entire bench to find the ideal group to matchup with Fayette. Half way through the second half, Fayette had increased their lead to 30. By the end of the game, Dubois had tried every piece of arsenal they had but it wasn't enough to surpass the dominant Fayette squad. When asked about their next match up with Fayette coach Howard responded: "We are looking forward to traveling to their place next time. We will be even more prepared and ready than we ever have to play on February 10th". Fayette held all but two players to single digits while having five of their own in double digits. Tristan Pierce ended the game with 12 points while Samar Drakeford ended strong with 17 points and 3 rebounds for the Dubois lions. Dubois returns to action against Pitt Titusville on Thursday, January 29th at 7:00 at home.
