PSUD Wins home Conference Game

The Penn State DuBois men's basketball team returned to action after a holiday break Saturday at home against Penn State Brandywine. Early in the contest the long break seemed to show as PSUD got off to a slow start. Penn State Brandywine burst out to an 11-0 lead after six minutes of play. Brandywine was able to push the lead to as many as 13 before PSUD rallied to close the half on a 11-1 run, bringing  the halftime score to 24-21 in favor of Brandywine.
Penn State Dubois head coach Dylan Howard added "I thought our bench stepped up in the first half, giving us energy on the defensive end that lead to us getting a few easy buckets. After that we seemed to settle in on the offensive end and execute."
PSUD road the momentum into the second half, taking a lead shortly into the half. Brandywine then went on a run of their own leading 41-36 with 14:10 to play. PSUD rallied behind solid play from Sam Roselli (Ridgway, PA/Ridgway) who was 13 of 17 from the field finishing with 28 points and 12 rebounds. PSUD never looked back after regaining the lead, pushing the lead to as many as 10. PSUD was able to control the ball and make enough free throws to come away victorious 64-60.
Derrick "Nooch" Williams (Philadelphia, Pa/Franklin Learning Center) was 7-11 from the charity stripe finishing with 13 points. Dylan Clingan (Emporium,Pa/Cameron County) had 7 points and 8 rebounds, 2 of those rebounds came off of missed PSUD free throws in the final minutes.

Coach Howard said "today was a great team win, we had guys step up and play hard. I have some guys that can't dress until our game Tuesday, I thought they contributed today with enthusiasm and energy. The guys on the court really fed off of that."
PSUD returns to action Tuesday night January  13th at 8 pm against conference foe Penn State New Kensington.
