Penn State DuBois men falter in USCAA opener

Playing in your division national championship tournament will always be difficult, but playing the opening game with-out your leading scorer and 1st team All-American selection makes the task all the more difficult. PSU DuBois failed to advance to the semi-finals with a 79-50 loss to #5 seed Vermont Tech. on Thursday evening at the Main Arena at PSU Fayette. A slow start by DuBois coupled with hot shooting and domination of the rebounds gave Vermont Tech a comfortable lead going into the half up 46-19.
DuBois settled themselves and played even with Vermont Tech in the 2nd half, but the damage had been done early and Vermont Tech cruised to a 79-50 win. Leading scores for DuBois were John Hau and Kai Ahmad with 12 & 10 points respectively. Camden Nolan came off the bench in the second half and provided 10 points; going 2 for 2 from behind the arch.
Vermont Tech had four players reach double digits; leading the way was sharp shooting Kevin Carr with 25 points with Josh Lindsey and Lucas Tyrell adding 12 & 11 points apiece. Josh Patterson scored 14 points off the Bench for Vermont Tech.
Prior to the basketball action the USCAA held its annual banquet on Tuesday evening at Nemacolin Woodlands to welcome the teams and present Academic All-American awards along with First & Second team All-American selections for play on the court. Earning 1st team Div. II All-American selection was PSU DuBois senior Chris Dickison. Senior, Jovan Brown was named as Honorable Mention selection. Earning his 3rd Academic All-American selection was senior Business major Derek Burdick. We are all proud of the way these athletes have performed on the court as well as in the classroom.
